Misguided Trust
by Carolyn Brown
(293 words)
Driving along the dark roads towards
the old Farrow’s farm, Cassie asked, “Julie, tell me why are we meeting the
boys here?”
“Don’t be a baby Cassie. Josh
and Paul are meeting us for Halloween, get into the spirit.” she answered with a
twisted smile.
They continued their drive in
silence.
“This is it Cassie, pull up
near the jack-o-lantern.” Julie pointed to the right side of the drive. “Josh’s car is parked behind the shed, do you
see it?”
Leaving the car, both girls
moved towards the shed. The house and surrounding yard was in complete
darkness, but Cassie, prepared for every eventuality found a flashlight in her
handbag.
Opening the door, Julie felt
a sticky cobweb attached itself to her and screamed! She removed the silky strands from her hair,
as the torch light allowed them to see inside the room, enabling them to discover
a cauldron mounted on bricks, a pile of timber waiting to be lit, stacked
beneath it.
Cassie was first to notice
the coldness of the room and mentioned it to Julie, who nodded and pulled her
hoodie tighter to her body. Cassie screamed, dropped the torch and plunged the
shed into darkness. Had she seen a ghost sweep past them? Bending to search for the flash light, Cassie
felt the sharp edge of a blade slice across her throat.
Looking up, Julie was
standing over her, an old fashioned razor in her hand. She realized the blade
had cut her throat when she felt warm sticky blood congeal on her skin.
Terrorized, she tried to scream for help!
“If you think Josh and Paul will help you,
you’re sadly mistaken; you will find them floating inside the cauldron. Don’t
worry, you will be joining them soon.”

Thanks for participating in our blogfest. :D
That took a mean twist!
Very creepy. And with a friend like her, who needs enemies? lol!!
That was *shivers* creepy. Poor Julie, Josh and Paul.
Oh, NO. You can't trust anyone anymore. :)
Creepy! And they were all friends? Makes you wonder who can you trust? Only yourself...
Great piece.
Wha-! That Julie has a few screws loose! This is why I have very few chicks as friends. They are total wack-a-doos!
Only thing missing was the 'laugh' -- CREEPY!
Loved it!

Definitely dark and spooky! Loved it! :)
Creepy. Well done.
Hi C. M.
A deadly association. I'd be screaming too.
