CASSA FIRE

From the Amazon
best-selling author - CassaStar was just the beginning The Vindicarn War
is a distant memory and Byron 's days of piloting Cosbolt fighters are
over. He has kept the promise he made to his fallen mentor and friend -
to probe space on an exploration vessel. Shuttle work is dull, but it 's
a free and solitary existence. The senior officer is content with his
life aboard the Rennather. The detection of alien ruins sends the
exploration ship to the distant planet of Tgren. If their scientists can
decipher the language, they can unlock the secrets of this device. Is
it a key to the Tgren 's civilization or a weapon of unimaginable power?
Tensions mount as their new allies are suspicious of the Cassan 's
technology and strange mental abilities. To complicate matters, the
Tgrens are showing signs of mental powers themselves; the strongest of
which belongs to a pilot named Athee, a woman whose skills rival Byron
's unique abilities. Forced to train her mind and further develop her
flying aptitude, he finds his patience strained. Add a reluctant
friendship with a young scientist, and he feels invaded on every level.
All Byron wanted was his privacy.
MY REVIEW:
Cassa Fire, the second book in the series by Alex Cavanaugh, sees the main character Byron, involved in an exploration of ancient artifacts, found on a planet, whose inhabitants are not yet capable of space flight.
The Cassans are surprised to find some of the inhabitants possess the stronger mental abilities than they first thought and begin testing to find what they may be capable of.
Even though Byron still holds onto a lot of emotional baggage in Cassa Fire, he seems ready to move on with his life and begins to let down some of his shields to allow a few selected people into his private world.
Cassa Fire is another great read by Alex Cavanaugh and the reader is swept up with the life of his complex main character, Byron, as he finds friendship in an insecure scientist and a special female inhabitant of the planet the Cassan expedition visits.

My topic to coincide with Letter "C" is on - Can and Can't!
My husband is always telling me there is no such thing as "Can't"! Do I believe him? Well that depends on the day!
Some days, I can feel inspired and full of clarity and have no trouble at all fulfilling my goals, but other days, as I am sure you can relate to, I feel as though I can't accomplish anything.
I will flounder around and feel as though the whole day has been wasted. Unfortunately, days can lead into weeks and weeks into months!
I have been floundering for the past month, since completing my blog tour and have only written about four pages of one book. I could say I have been blogging, catching up with my buddies, but I have neglected that, too - only visiting a select few!
So, after the Challenge I am going to commit to the word "CAN"
and try my hardest to get back on track with my writing!

I've still got CassaFire to read on my Kindle. i really enjoyed CassaStorm (a surprise since sci-fi really isn't my thing) and I really need to play catchup before CassaStorm is released.

Oh No, Let's Go... Crazy
That's the spirit! My heart (or my stubbornness) believes there is not Can't. It is my silly brain that keeps repeating it. Good think is my ears are a bit deaf so it all ends up in a "I can't but I'll do it anyway just to see if I can pull a miracle." I'm amazed at myself sometimes.
I still have to read Alex's books, but I'll get there for sure!
Great shout out indeed, here at your feed.
Yay for Cassa Fire! Great selection for "C."
I'm sure everyone understands how busy you've been, so just do the best you can. Great choice for "C" and I'm so excited for Alex!

I also have my really bad periods where I accomplish nothing. Having a "can" attitude is definitely a good way to move forward.
I admire those who have the time and energy to complete not just one book, but several. Good luck on yours.
I think, sometimes, "can't" is legitimate. I can't step out of my front door and fly away under my own power. That will never happen.
>sigh<
I love Alex's books. I can't wait to read the last one. :)
Oh wow!!! What an awesome surprise. Thank you, Carolyn. I'm really glad you enjoyed the second one and hope the third doesn't let you down.
I think after a release and a tour, everyone dips a bit. I've been fortunate that I had something to plunge into immediately after both of my books were released. You can do it - just start that ball rolling.
Best of luck getting back on track with your writing. That's something I tend to struggle with myself so I feel your pain. I bet we can both do it though, if we put our minds to it :)

CassaStar is a great book. It's a sci-fi that would suit anyone due to the relatable characters.
I'm sure you'll get back on track - one step at a time!
Yes, you can. you can.
I can't wait for Alex's third book but I guess I have to.
You can! Alex's series is on a rocket!
Good luck getting back on track.
