Hookers & Hangers Blogfest July 16th & July 18th

We all know how important the first and last lines are in every chapter. This blogfest will hopefully get your HOOKERS and HANGERS polished making it impossible for readers to put down your book and leaving them begging for more!

On July 16th, post the first sentence from each chapter.

On July 18th, post the last sentence from each chapter.

Post as many as you like!

We will be judging everyone’s first three HOOKERS and first three HANGERS. We’ll each pick two winners (MOST ENTICING HOOKER and MOST IMPOSSIBLE HANGER) making a total of ten winners! Winners will receive a 10 page (double spaced) critique and a Friday Spotlight on FFF!

HERE ARE 10 HANGERS I HAVE CHOSEN:

  1. I had now come to the realization that after such a long time it was unlikely he was going to return….
  2. We were bound by more than just our emotions, our whole beings were meant to be together, forever….
  3.  “Yes, thanks Seb.”  I knew those words had a second meaning, one committing me to my promise.
  4. He was now going to take control of my life, whether under the banner of protection or love, it would be done his way…...
  5.  Relief escaped from me and I could feel the tension leaving me slightly, as one hurdle was now completed.
  6.  I took another long embrace before letting them head into the portal, following Auron into its depths with my eyes.
  7.  We walked the whole way back to the house in total silence, both of us contemplating our thoughts….
  8.  Exhaustion started to take hold of me and my eyes closed……
  9.  With our discussion finished, Julian stood and walked from the room, leaving me to dwell on the news he had presented.
  10.  Would I ever be able to retrieve my missing daughter and bring her home to safety?

These are all great. I'd keep reading. I'm not sure which is my favorite. They're all intriguing. :)

These are great! I love 3 and 10 the most!

I love your 10th hanger. :-)

Oh this looks like a lot of fun! And a good way to check yourself on whether you're beginning and ending each chapter of your work with a hooker and hanger. I loved your lines:)

I like the first one a lot! :D

My favourite is #8 :) Thanks for stopping by my blog!

All of them are great, but combined with 10, they're awesome!

Great endings, and definitely the first three. So many hangers, I am starting to feel like a broken record in commenting because everyone I have read so far today has knock out endings. Enjoyed reading your post.

What a lovely comment Emily, thank you.

Thank you, I understand exactly what you are saying. The entries I have read are all very good.

Unknown said...

Sue, it isn't really sad, more on the lines of intense.

Unknown said...

Thanks for your choice Nancy.

Thanks Cristina.

Yikes, #4 scares me and the last one makes me so sad. Great hangers. Thanks for being a part of this!

I love these hangers -- but your hookers are even better. Wow!

Powerful lines.

It is a bit direct, but within the context of the book, Seb is trying to keep her alive!

Unknown said...

Thanks Hope.

Excellent hangers! #4 and #10 were my favorites.

Suzi said...

Wow. #10 is a big one with the missing daughter. #2 is my favorite though-I just like that line.

Jeannette said...

I like #3 the most. I root for the underdog. Well done!

Robin said...

I feel like an echo.... I, too, liked #4 and #10 the best for hangers. It turns out that some chapters close things out and those sentences give the feelings of closure. Other chapters are lead-ins (aka hangers). You actually want a mixture of both, I think. Some of your closures were very eloquent, but not all that hanger-like. Still... very nice writing. Yay!

Rena said...

Oh, number 1 and number 10 are my favorites. Well done!

Cassie Mae said...

Eep! These are all fab! Love number 5 the best :D

And on an unrelated note, I totally love your blog header. I don't think I've told you that :D

Trisha said...

The last one is pretty intriguing, but this one's my favourite I'd have to say:

I took another long embrace before letting them head into the portal, following Auron into its depths with my eyes.

Intriguing! what portal? :)

Unknown said...

Thanks, glad you like them.

Unknown said...

Thanks for your comments Suzi.

Unknown said...

Thanks Jeannette.

Unknown said...

Thanks Robin, I will keep your pointers in mind.

Unknown said...

Thanks Rena!

Unknown said...

Thanks Cassie, and thank you for letting me know that you like the header.

Unknown said...

The story takes place on Earth and in another world, which is linked by the portals.

I'm voting #10. If my daughters came up missing, I would fall apart.
Great hookers, too, byw. I am sorry to be so late posting my comments! There are a ton of blog hop people signed up.

Unknown said...

Yes, it is hard to get around to everyone, I think I paid a visit to everyone at least once, but I am unsure if I will get through the list for a second time! Just too much going on!

Thanks for stopping by!

Theresa said...
