When Hollywood runs out of ideas, they remake older films.
Sometimes this works, and sometimes it fails miserably.

My worst remake choice would be Fame.
The original was made in 1980 and was nominated for a number of Academy Awards and won two in the music categories.
The remake released in 2009 was a real fizz-er!
Dream It!
Earn It!
Live It!
Although it grossed over $73,000,000 world wide,
it just did not have the appeal of the original.
The best movie remake for me would be
The Three Muskateers!
This movie has been remade several times.
One of the first being times being in the silent film era.
For this hop I am comparing the 2011 remake to the movie made in 1993, staring Charlie Sheen, Kiefer Sutherland and Chris O'Donnell.
The 2011 version was an excellent remake, staring Matthew Mac Fadyen, Milla Jovovich and Ray Stevenson.
With the tag line of 'Every Legend Has a New Beginning'
this remake grossed over $20 billion at the box office.
With Milla Jovovich (aka, Alice - Resident Evil), included among the cast, how could it go wrong!

I also chose Fame as the worst remake!
Imagine - no dancing on the car scene...? And what about the missing leg warmers...?? Really bad!!

I loved the '93 remake but not the '11 version.
Fame is on several lists today.
I've enjoyed all of the Three Musketeers movies and all for different reasons.
Thanks for participating in our blogfest.
Now I wish I had seen the Mila Jojovich version. It was among my list but then again, many were among my list and never saw them. I liked 1993 version, though.
And Fame, I'm all the way with you on that one. Don't know why I didn't think of it.
Thank you for participating in the blogfest! :)
I agree with Fame. As always, they have to take something that was absolutely awesome and try to improve it. Silly people....
I loved Fame! The original that is. The remake never should've happened.
loved the original Fame!!
the series too.
why do they think they can improve on greatness?
tho glee is a great upgrade/current take on the show.
and i loved three musketeers!
if the newer one is great, i need to see it! thanks!
Interesting choices. I don't know that I have a favorite Musketeer movie - there are so many, and I would have a tough time deciding. I was totally surprised by the steampunk elements in this latest one . . . I didn't like that on the first viewing, and then thought it was fun the second time I saw it.
It is better than the Disney movie, that's for sure.
I didn't know they even remade "Fame"....ugh.
I've never seen the new Three Musketeers yet....sounds like one to look out for.
I never even gave the Fame remake a chance. Just didn't want to see it.
And I have yet to see the new 3 Musketeers! It looked so steampunk.
I thought the The Three Musketeers remake was campy but I had fun watching it at home. Original Fame rocked, haven't seen the remake but heard lots of bad things. Lots...
My mom loved the remake of the Three Musketeers. She's seen it hundreds of times.
I also liked the latest MUSKETEERS! Especially with Luke Evans in the cast :) Hope the new BBC TV series will be as good too!
OH i loved the three musketeers remake! I enjoyed the actors and the special effects.

It's hard for me to weigh in on Fame, as I did not see either. But I did like the Musketeers, although I was always partial to the ones in the seventies with Oliver Reed and Raquel Welch.
Oh yeah, Fame was horrible. Am I bad for not having seen the new Three Muskateers yet? I wasn't interested in the remake before, but now that you've said it's good, I'll have to add it to my Netflix list. Have a great weekend!
Carolyn the cast in Three Musketeers is brilliant. Great choice for the hop.
I saw some of Fame back in the day. Now I have the song stuck in my head. Good thing I like the tune.
And thanks for stopping by and saying hello!
I forgot they remade the Musketeers -- I'll have to check that one out.
I'm with you on Fame but I never saw the 2011 version of the Musketeers, so I can't comment there.
I never got around to seeing the 3 Musketeers' remake. And it has a bunch of actors/resses I enjoy. Maybe I'll look it up on Netflix or Amazon.
Never saw the Milla version of Muskies (too lazy to type the whole word out. haha). Sounds worth seeing though! And I am pretty sure I haven't seen either ver. of Fame. I know I saw the 1993 version of Muskies, or at least I feel like I did. ;)
We rented the new Fame by mistake one night, so I would totally agree.

The original Fame is one of my favorite films. I will not see that remake. I'll bet it has all kinds of hip-hop and stuff in the soundtrack and that would really mess it up for me. The original soundtrack is one I've listened to so many times.

I really enjoyed The Three Muskateers too. And now, I've got the Fame song stuck in my head! :D
I never saw the Fame remake and quite honestly...I would have picked the Three Musketeers remake as one of the worst. Everybody has their own taste. :)
I loved the Three Musketeers.
