INSECURE WRITER'S SUPPORT GROUP

THE FIRST WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH

IT IS TIME FOR

INSECURE WRITER'S SUPPORT GROUP

It is with great pleasure to announce that I am helping Alex to host this months Insecure Writer's Support Group, along with the help of L.G. Keltzer.

This monthly meme is becoming so big it is now difficult for Alex to visit everyone on the ever growing list, so he invited his regular blogger followers to put up their hands to take on the task to offer support.

L.G. Keltzer and myself were quick to accept and were given the month of November to kick off this new system which Alex has devised to help lighten his load and to ensure the bloggers on the list are acknowledged and accepted into his huge audience of followers.

All writers have insecurities, whether they are focused on their writing, their style of writing, acceptance among their peers or any number of other things.

The IWSG helps all of us to voice these insecurities and gain support and advice from other members of the group.  We learn from this process and our feelings of being alone (as writing is a lonely task), are found to be false because we find support and comfort in the words of others in this unique group of people who follow Alex Cavanaugh and involve themselves in the IWSG.

You can be surprised by the positive comments other people make in regard to your insecurities and learn that you are not alone and your feelings of doubt are swept aside.

Using these feelings of insecurity can also benefit us, especially when we learn others have experienced them too.  Using insecurities in a positive way can make us grow, giving the individual writer the power to continue on and progress with their endeavours.

I remember years ago when it was a fad to give out what was known as ‘warm fuzzies’. This was a process where persons gave other persons hugs and support and thanked people for anything and everything that was done for them, whether those people were strangers or friends.  Well the process of the IWSG is similar, we give each other advice and support whether the person who posted the writing is known or unknown to us.

Personally, I have found the IWSG a place where I can learn from my fellow writers and gain beneficial advice, helping me to progress as a writer.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank Alex and the other members of IWSG who ensure this monthly meme lives, strives and moves forward into the future to help and support our fellow writers.

  16. Oh Gosh! The warm fuzzies are perfect! Thanks for co-hosting. I've been participating since the beginning, and IWSG has taught me how kind and helpful other writers are. Perhaps admitting our insecurities is a first step in overcoming them!

  18. Warm fuzzies were a big thing in my childhood. And you're right, the IWSG community is both reminiscent of and deserving of that title.

  19. ISWG is absolutely my favorite blog 'thing' going, and I love it when bloggers I enjoy (like you CM!) host and take part. :-)

You've convinced me to throw my hat in at last, btw. I'm joining ISWG for next month.

  20. Insecurites help us to bring more realistic depth to our characters. At least that is what I keep telling myself. Yes, we could all use a warm fuzzie hug now and then! Good luck with being co-host! :-)

  32. Warm fuzzies, nice. :) I love that we have a support group as writers, but typically writers are loners and we really do need each others support to keep going. We make a great team to keep each other inspired and touched! :)

  33. Thank you for co-hosting. This is only my second month participating and I have NO idea how Alex has been able to keep up!
I am enjoying the other posts, it is comforting to know you are not the only insecure writer in the blogaspere:)

  34. Good job for Alex to delegate and lead by example to show that one person can't carry the whole village. Good on you for volunteering to help, too. IWSG is awesome. Thanks for stopping by my blog. And LOL, warm fuzzies, haven't seen those since the 80s.

  35. Thanks for co-hosting this month! The "warm fuzzies" support is so important, especially in the uncertainty of writing. Also, thanks so much for the awesome review of my book! I'm excited you enjoyed it. :)

  40. Way to go, helping out the master ninja! He's amazing. I was just commenting on another blog how obsessed I've been today with reading / commenting on IWSG. At some point (I've been at it since 6 a.m.) I'm going to have to get off the computer. :P Thanks for helping out this month, I'm sure Alex appreciates you and L.G.

  45. I remember warm fuzzies! I got one from my camp counselor in 5th grade- I think I still have it somewhere in the abandoned scrapbooking piles. It was a simple thing but meant so much to an insecure girl like me. I look forward to participating in IWSG- it's such a great idea! Thanks for co-hosting :)

  46. Just the fact that you are co-hosting is an inspiration for the IWSG in my opinion! It's already Friday and I've barely hopped to 12 different blogs in an effort to spread my own warm fuzzies around... it's a daunting task with so many great blogs out there. Kudos to you!
