Hookers & Hangers Blogfest July 16th & July 18th
We all know how important the first and last lines are in every chapter. This blogfest will hopefully get your HOOKERS and HANGERS polished making it impossible for readers to put down your book and leaving them begging for more!
On July 16th, post the first sentence from each chapter.
On July 18th, post the last sentence from each chapter.
Post as many as you like!
We will be judging everyone’s first three HOOKERS and first three HANGERS. We’ll each pick two winners (MOST ENTICING HOOKER and MOST IMPOSSIBLE HANGER) making a total of ten winners! Winners will receive a 10 page (double spaced) critique and a Friday Spotlight on FFF!

HERE ARE 10 HANGERS I HAVE CHOSEN:
- I had now come to the realization that after such a long time it was unlikely he was going to return….
- We were bound by more than just our emotions, our whole beings were meant to be together, forever….
- “Yes, thanks Seb.” I knew those words had a second meaning, one committing me to my promise.
- He was now going to take control of my life, whether under the banner of protection or love, it would be done his way…...
- Relief escaped from me and I could feel the tension leaving me slightly, as one hurdle was now completed.
- I took another long embrace before letting them head into the portal, following Auron into its depths with my eyes.
- We walked the whole way back to the house in total silence, both of us contemplating our thoughts….
- Exhaustion started to take hold of me and my eyes closed……
- With our discussion finished, Julian stood and walked from the room, leaving me to dwell on the news he had presented.
- Would I ever be able to retrieve my missing daughter and bring her home to safety?
These are all great. I'd keep reading. I'm not sure which is my favorite. They're all intriguing. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Stina.
DeleteThese are great! I love 3 and 10 the most!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your choices Lisa.
DeleteI love your 10th hanger. :-)
ReplyDeleteHey, thanks for dropping by Misha.
DeleteOh this looks like a lot of fun! And a good way to check yourself on whether you're beginning and ending each chapter of your work with a hooker and hanger. I loved your lines:)
ReplyDeleteYes, it is a great exercise! One I didn't even think of before.
DeleteI like the first one a lot! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks Kyra.
DeleteMy favourite is #8 :) Thanks for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteGlad you returned the visit, thanks.
DeleteAll of them are great, but combined with 10, they're awesome!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely comment Emily, thank you.
DeleteGreat endings, and definitely the first three. So many hangers, I am starting to feel like a broken record in commenting because everyone I have read so far today has knock out endings. Enjoyed reading your post.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I understand exactly what you are saying. The entries I have read are all very good.
DeleteSounds like a sad book, good lines
ReplyDeleteSue, it isn't really sad, more on the lines of intense.
DeleteLove the intrigue of #4!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your choice Nancy.
Deleteoh I really love number 4. great job.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cristina.
Delete#4 absolutely scares the hell outta me!
ReplyDeleteIt is a bit direct, but within the context of the book, Seb is trying to keep her alive!
DeleteOh my goodness! #4, #6, #10! WOW!
ReplyDeleteThanks Hope.
DeleteWhat a great idea for a blog hop. Number four is powerful.
ReplyDeleteYes it has been fun too! Thanks Ciara.
DeleteYikes, #4 scares me and the last one makes me so sad. Great hangers. Thanks for being a part of this!
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed it immensely Jenny!
DeleteI love these hangers -- but your hookers are even better. Wow!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely comment, thanks for stopping by T.L.
DeleteThis book sounds really interesting. Good job!
ReplyDeleteThank you Amy!
DeletePowerful lines.
ReplyDeleteThanks Roxanne.
DeleteExcellent hangers! #4 and #10 were my favorites.
ReplyDeleteThanks, glad you like them.
DeleteWow. #10 is a big one with the missing daughter. #2 is my favorite though-I just like that line.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments Suzi.
DeleteI like #3 the most. I root for the underdog. Well done!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeannette.
DeleteI feel like an echo.... I, too, liked #4 and #10 the best for hangers. It turns out that some chapters close things out and those sentences give the feelings of closure. Other chapters are lead-ins (aka hangers). You actually want a mixture of both, I think. Some of your closures were very eloquent, but not all that hanger-like. Still... very nice writing. Yay!
ReplyDeleteThanks Robin, I will keep your pointers in mind.
DeleteOh, number 1 and number 10 are my favorites. Well done!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rena!
DeleteEep! These are all fab! Love number 5 the best :D
ReplyDeleteAnd on an unrelated note, I totally love your blog header. I don't think I've told you that :D
Thanks Cassie, and thank you for letting me know that you like the header.
DeleteThe last one is pretty intriguing, but this one's my favourite I'd have to say:
ReplyDeleteI took another long embrace before letting them head into the portal, following Auron into its depths with my eyes.
Intriguing! what portal? :)
The story takes place on Earth and in another world, which is linked by the portals.
DeleteI'm voting #10. If my daughters came up missing, I would fall apart.
ReplyDeleteGreat hookers, too, byw. I am sorry to be so late posting my comments! There are a ton of blog hop people signed up.
Yes, it is hard to get around to everyone, I think I paid a visit to everyone at least once, but I am unsure if I will get through the list for a second time! Just too much going on!
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
This is a hard one. If I had to choose though my faves would be 2, 3 and 10!
ReplyDeleteThank you Theresa for your comment.
DeleteI really like that third one. Such great writing! Thanks for participating!
ReplyDeleteThank you Kelley!
DeleteThese were all great, but the first one struck me the most! Awesome job!
ReplyDeleteThank you for leaving a comment Lynn(e).
DeleteGreat hangers. My favorite was the last one. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Medeia.
